Agreement Between Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington, Inc. and
Northern Virginia Jewish Funerals
Effective Dates: January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2028
This contract is made between the Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington, Inc., hereinafter referred to as "JFPC," and Northern Virginia Jewish Funerals, with premises at 8453-D Tyco Road, Vienna, VA 22182, hereinafter referred to as the "Funeral Director" or "FD."
1. Purpose
FD understands that JFPC's primary purpose is to permit and encourage Jewish congregations and organizations to honor their dead by leading in ritual activities, comforting mourners, and following Jewish values such as quick burial, simplicity, and equality in death. FD agrees to cooperate in furthering these purposes.
2. Pricing & Duration
FD agrees to provide a complete Jewish funeral for the price of $3,495.00, with annual increases of 5% or CPI, whichever is greater. The price shall be exclusive of optional additions and apply to both at-need and pre-need arrangements. "CPI" shall refer to the U.S. Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers in Washington-Baltimore for the most recent 12-month period.
January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026: $3,495.00
January 1, 2027 to December 31, 2027: $3,670.00
January 1, 2028 to December 31, 2028: $3,855.00
3. Transportation (Ship-Outs & Airports)
If the body is transferred prior to a service, FD shall charge $1,800 plus $3.44 per loaded mile beyond 40 miles from FD's facility.
This same rate applies for:
Transport to Reagan or Dulles Airports (excludes cost of Zeigler case/air tray)
Receiving from common carrier at those airports
4. Services Included in the Complete Jewish Funeral Package
Removal of the body within 50 miles of FD's facility
Filing of death certificate through the Electronic Death Registration System in VA, MD, or DC; includes obtaining certified copies (allow 5-7 days)
Refrigeration as required
Casket: All-wood pine rectangular casket (NAHUM).
Oversized (26"): $1,595
Short casket: $2,500
A $675 casket credit applies when special sizes are needed
Ritual washing (Tahara) and watching (Shomrim):
Available 24/7, including Sundays
Dedicated Tahara and Shomrim rooms with private entrance, HVAC, lift, restroom, and all necessary supplies
Signage to remind volunteers to leave the ID tag affixed to the deceased
Alternative care (dressing/casketing when Tahara not performed)
Use of synagogue or graveside for service
Use of partner synagogue chapels: $750 additional
Transportation to service and cemetery (within 50 miles), accompanied by staff
Paperwork handling: Obituaries, Social Security, VA claims, and death certificates (third-party fees billed at cost)
Certified Death Certificate delivery by certified mail: $35
Assistance with third-party DCs (non-local jurisdictions): $100
Memorial Package: Guest register book, 50 acknowledgment cards, Shiva/ritual candle
Remote arrangements available, with in-person option upon request (no added charge)
No credit for unused services within the package, unless otherwise noted
5. Optional Services
Limousines: $695 minimum (4 hours), $150 per additional hour; annual rate adjustment with 30-day notice
Casket upgrade: Only upon family's request; selection above Tier 2 voids package use
Ziegler case: $804
Air tray: $250
Annual price increases allowed based on supplier rates
Concrete vault (minimum, contact-with-soil type): $1,195
6. Additional Agreements
FD will not upsell non-contracted goods/services
Families must pay at time of service
FD must notify JFPC 15 days in advance of any policy/procedure change affecting this agreement
FD will submit quarterly reports by the 15th of the month following quarter-end, listing:

Congregation/source of call
Total billed
Agreement includes two (2) renewal options, each for two (2) years, with annual CPI or 5% price adjustment

Any amendments must be in writing and signed by both parties
This agreement shall be governed by Virginia law
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have executed this agreement to be effective as of the 1st day of January of 2026
